![]() ![]() ![]() I bought some for my P89 and they work very well and raise mag capacity by a couple rounds, bringing it up to be comparable with modern full sized 9mm handguns. If you can find any, try a Mec Gar 17rd flush fit magazine. It works well enough and I have enough confidence n it that, for a while when I didn't have much else, I used it as my nightstand gun. It's not my favorite metal framed 9mm pistol, but it's far from my least favorite and it works very well. I don't shoot it much anymore, but it was always very reliable and at least reasonably accurate. The P226 is LONG gone after several issues and Sig's pathetic customer service, the P89 is still in the safe. I bought the P89 because of how strong and rugged they were and to test out my reloads so I didn't blow up my P226. I was just getting into reloading and had heard about how hard 9mm was to reload. It was the second handgun I ever bought, the first being the West German Sig Sauer P226 I bought to go through Police Academy with in 1990. I still have my KP89DC, stainless P89 with decocker only. I also believe the magazine springs in the two magazines that came with the handgun need replacing, so new springs are on order. As a result, I have ordered the updated shorter slide stop from Numrich. While shooting groups, the first shot of each string was double action.Īs you will see in the pictures, the early slide release on this pistol is quite large, which caused me to inadvertently activate it several times while at the range, causing two to three failures to return to battery. It seems the pistol likes Wolf and Fiocchi. Ruger Bearcat revolvers with brass trigger guards have a hidden serial number on the inside. Shooting in groups of 5, the pistol appears to be printing slightly right of my point of aim, but it pretty close to POA/POI overall for me. made the use of serial numbers on all firearms mandatory. I ran about 200 rounds of mixed ammo through it today, consisting of Wolf 115gr FMJ, Fiocchi 115 FMJ, IMI 115gr JHP, and some Hornady 135gr Critical Duty. It does have an early Ruger two-piece barrel, but that did not seem to affect accuracy. So far, I am really pleased with this old wonder nine. I finally got a day off work and picked up my new (to me) P85. The handgun's serial number denotes it was within the first 2,500 production guns, and was probably one of the last P85s to roll off the line in 1987. Ruger No.3's numbered in the No.I recently won an auction on Gunbroker for a like new Ruger P85 for $250. Ruger P89 Manufacture Date Beginning Serial Number During its production life, the P89 had numerous. Any P89 should be an exceptionally durable and reliable handgun, and capable of shooting a 3' group at 25 yards. You can see you want a really high 315 or 316 gun. This serial number list is from Ruger's website. ![]()
